Want to be a 100kGarages Fabber?
In the beginning we'll only be signing up registered ShopBot
owners as Fabbers (why only
ShopBot owners?), but if that describes you then the
requirements for becoming a Fabber are pretty simple.
100kGarages is just starting out so if you're not a ShopBot
owner please be patient...as soon as we get a better handle on
how all this will work we'll start opening it up to other kinds
of digital fabrication tools.
If you're a registered ShopBot owner, these are the requirements
for becoming a Fabber:
- ShopBot MUST have you listed as the
tool’s owner with the correct details like address, contact
info, etc. It can be either a PRT or a PRS (and a PRS tool
will be a plus), as long as you’re confident in the accuracy
of your ShopBot and can cut at a reasonable speed. You’ll
also need either PartWorks software, VCarve Pro, or Aspire.
If you offer other digital fabrication service like laser cutting
or 3d printing in conjunction with CNC cutting you can
include them in your pushpin, as long as they aren't the
focus of your description.
- This is a business opportunity so you MUST have any and
all business licenses required by your locality.
- You’ll need to have a webpage to show some examples of
the work that you do, and an email address for contact. If
you don’t have these already there are lots of free and
low-cost options, and we have some
information to help you get
set up. Makers won't be interested
unless they can see some examples of your work, so a
website is required
- You’ll need to agree to honor whatever Intellectual
Property rights the customer or Designer has put on their
design. This is a "one strike and you’re out" policy with us
and if we receive any complaints we will immediately suspend
your account until it is resolved. If you don't know
otherwise, assume that the designer retains all rights.
The credibility of 100kGarages for Makers and Designers
depends ultimately on the performance of every Fabber in the
system. We expect the community as a whole to continue to
evolve the criteria for membership and the expectations for
performance, and for each Fabber to treat every business
transaction honestly and fairly, just the way you would if
someone walked into your shop.
If you agree to all these conditions, click here to sign up as a Fabber and we'll validate you as quickly as possible.
